'So Malakai tell us about your recent victory at the UK Jesus Surf Classic.
"One of the highlights of my surfing was my recent triumph in the under 18's category at the renowned UK Jesus Surf Classic. This victory was a testament to the dedication and hard work I've put in over the last few years. It was a momentous occasion for me, and it's definitely fueled my passion for the sport."
'And joining Team England 2023 in Brazil, that's super exciting!
"Yes I am stoked to announce that I've secured a coveted spot in the 2023 Team England squad. Being part of this esteemed team is a privilege, and I look forward to representing my country on the international stage. Going to Brazil to compete in the 2023 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship is a huge achievement for me."
'Outside of surfing in competitions what are your passions
"I believe in continuous improvement, both on and off the competitive stage. To achieve this, I have a training regime which helps me reach my goals. I also actively collaborate with photographers, and videographers. These collaborations help me push the boundaries of my surfing prowess and yield compelling, one-of-a-kind content. I think this showcases my passion for the sport."
'You are a true Soul Surfer, what would you say are your next goals?
"Over the past two years, I've had the privilege of competing at the highest echelons of European surfing, participating in both the WSL European QS tour and WSL Pro juniors. During this time, I achieved a significant milestone by securing a heat win, which has subsequently earned me a favourable seeding. This positions me well to pursue my ultimate aspiration of finishing within the top 8 and ultimately qualifying for the prestigious WSL Challenger Series in the years ahead. This achievement marks the initial phase of my journey towards representing Great Britain in the Olympics—a lifelong ambition and my foremost goal.
