Hey Adin!

So tell us a little about yourself:

When did you start surfing?

I started surfing when I was 6 years old, we just went down to the beach a lot as a family so surfing just happened naturally.

At what point did you know you wanted to surf professionally and why?

When I was really young I was never the best and I would always get to like Semi Finals. I have always been a very competitive person which made me hungry to improve and want to win! So I worked hard on my surfing and at age 13 I ended up winning pretty much everything as well as becoming U13 South African Champion.

After this, I really wanted to keep winning and progress through the ranks with a main goal of Qualifying for the Championship Tour.

I've been super driven from a young age to chase my dreams and goals, if it wasn't for this fire i wouldn't be where i am today that's for sure.

How do you utilise Dawn Patrol in your surf experience?

Dawn Patrol is an incredible surf app and it's awesome to be involved with a brand that puts accurate surf forecasting and personal surf statistics on your wrist. Using the app allows me to track my surf sessions in a more structured manner    - . I find it super helpful to see the amount of waves I've surfed, how far I've paddled and how much time I spend in the water.

It's great to see my top speeds on the different boards in my quiver and the amount of waves I actually catch per session. I like that I can see the intervals between waves which gives me a good indication of consistency.

The app also gives me stats on what part of the tide my best waves were ridden, which is helpful to know for future sessions at that specific spot. I'm really excited to use the app at Jbay, it will be interesting to see my top speed and measure the length of the ride on that wave!

What are your next goals?

My goals for 2024 are to take what I learned from this year and grow from that as a human and competitor. I enjoy competing so much and I am excited to put the best version of myself in that competition vest again on the Challenger Series next year! I am also looking forward to some strike missions to the best waves around South Africa, as a surfer this is so fulfilling and something i am looking to do more of!
